I'm sure we all have experienced that we are typing and the cursor suddenly changes place and starts typing somewhere else. Apparently this is due to the fact that we accidently touch the mouse pad of the laptop.
After unsuccessfully trying many solutions, which include installing Gsynaptics and getting the following message:
GSynaptics couldn't initialize.
You have to set 'SHMConfig' 'true' in xorg.conf or XF86Config to use GSynaptics
I found a simple beautiful way to get around this. Go to the Ubuntu Software Center and install the TouchFreeze application. And that's it! What this application does is freeze the touch pad while you are typing and re activate it after a configurable delay based on your last key stroke.
