I just finished having dinner with the Flybridge Capital Partners team here in Cambridge. They invited a small group of 2nd year MIT Sloan students who appear to be focused on entrepreneurship, so I got to have dinner again with the usual suspects :-), Freddy Kerrest, Akshay, Josh Miller, B. Fisher, etc. The goal was to network with these people. In the last years, Flybridge has invested in at least 5 companies coming out of MIT (e.g., Brontes, acquired by 3M).
Flybridge currently has $560 million under management and it is one of the few firms in the VC industry that still has cash to invest after raising their latest fund in 2008. The 5 partners were there, including Jeffrey-Bussgang and Chip Hazard (I already blogged about them in the past). According to the conversations, it seems that they are really excited about the energy and medical devices sectors (like everyone else) and we also had long discussion about the current financial crisis for startups, postgraduation jobs, etc. They also asked very good questions about my consumer internet projects.
