What do you get when you mix sixty strangers, raw eggs, and the outdoors? An unforgettable weekend at Camp Sloan!
A favorite tradition at Sloan is “Camp Sloan.” Sloanies go into the woods for one night to camp, hang out with friends, and meet people from different Sloan programs.
I was one of the counselors leading a group of about 60 Sloanies to Moosilauke, a lodge owned by Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. We took busses up to the camp for a chance to get away from Sloan and hang out in the woods.
Once we got to Moosilauke, we were greeted by a fantastic dinner that the lodge cooked for us. During dinner the lodge had us play an “egg toss” game. Although my partner and I ended up covered in egg yolk, it was definitely a bonding experience! After dinner we had a “Yarn,” which is an opportunity for Sloanies to share their stories and experiences. Two fantastic people spoke to our group, telling personal stories from before their arrival at Sloan.
The next morning we woke-up for a hike, and hiked to the top of Mount Moosilauke. There wan an incredible view from the top, and it was an awesome experience to share with 60 new friends!
