One of MIT's greatest events is undoubtedly the 100K competition. This week I won $2,000 for winning one of the preliminary events, the Executive Summary Competition. Check out the competition details.
My win was for Great White Remediation Technologies. It's a biodegradeable, environmentally friendly polymer that absorbs 77x its weight in hydrocarbons (gas, oil, solvents). The 100K was what inspired me to get out and seek this amazing technology, which I found of all places on the Skoll Foundation's Social Edge website. That's where I met a couple of Canadian research scientists who had developed it. Now I've written the business plan and we've found a lead investor that we're in due diligence with. Gotta love MIT.
